Nepal and Everest Base Camp, Jul-Aug 2010
A two part holiday... The first part was spent with Angela, and consisted of two weeks of accidental tourism around central Nepal. Accidental and unexpected, because we planned to go to India but I screwed up by forgetting to apply for the visas. But we could buy Nepal visas on arrival, so we gave up our India plans (Delhi, train to Shimla, Jaipur, Varanasi, etc). Instead we travelled extensively in the Kathmandu valley, and also went to Chitwan National Park, Bandipur, Pokhara and Gorkha. The second holiday was two weeks with Gary trekking up through the Khumbu valley to Everest Base Camp, a dream for us both for many years. So, two trips of a lifetime...
Many other people feature in the photos, including Madhu, our driver and guide through central Nepal, the ladies at the wonderful Dragon Guest House in Boudha, and the rest of our trek group: Ram our excellent guide and sirdar, Moti and Jagot our outstandingly helpful young porters (and sometimes guides too) and fellow trekkers Gaynor and Eva, both from Lancashire.
